Meet the Founder
Serena Eades is a violinist and composer based in Vancouver, Canada. Known as a member of Delhi 2 Dublin and Brazilian band she is also active as a freelance session musician, performer, composer and educator. Serena is the owner and founding director of the Serena Eades Academy of Music and assistant director for the North Shore Celtic Ensemble.
Serena’s early love for music grew through studying classical violin from the age of three and a half alongside her Dad as a Suzuki Method student, later earning a Bachelor of Music degree collectively from Brandon University and Capilano College in Canada and La Universidad de Colima in Mexico in 2005. Her success and unique style brought her to Boston’s Berklee College of Music where she earned a Diploma in Professional Music in 2014.
As an educator for over twenty eight years Serena has worked with many aspiring and inspiring violinists and fiddlers of all ages. She has taught across Canada, the United States and Southern Africa and has directed Waldorf Strings Programs and taught in El Sistema and Suzuki Institutions. Her teaching philosophy and style reflect her dedication to music as an art, a language and a way of life. Her commitment to disciplined work, and her passion to play and live with freedom and conviction are shared with her students.
Our Story
Making use of a variety of curricula and repertoire from the Royal Conservatory of Music and Suzuki methods to Once Upon a String, Fiddleworks series, and more, we build a program to suit you/your child’s interests and learning styles.
After teaching violin privately from the age of 15 on the Sunshine Coast, I decided to expand in 2019 and hire additional instructors, officially launching the Serena Eades Academy of Music. With support from Creative BC’s Amplify BC fund, we grew rapidly, despite opening just six months prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As everything moved online, we scaled up, recruiting incredible musicians from around the world to teach students from all around North America. Highlights included a global Fiddle Summit featuring instructors from Mexico, India, Italy, and Canada, alongside workshops and collaborative projects.
Our team thrived despite the challenges, maintaining a strong sense of community and professional growth through regular workshops and teacher collaborations. Post-pandemic, we reopened in-person studios in Gibsons, Sechelt, qathet/Powell River, and Vancouver, while keeping our successful online programs. In 2022, we expanded further to North Vancouver.
Today, we have a dedicated team of eight instructors and continue to offer violin and fiddle lessons across BC and beyond. We believe in changing lives through music, fostering creativity, discipline, and collaboration. Our inclusive approach welcomes students of all levels, helping them build confidence and develop a lifelong love for music.
