Studio Policies 2026 - 2027

Registration for lessons will constitute acceptance of these policies.

CALENDAR & LESSON SCHEDULE

  • The teaching year runs from September 14, 2026 to June 11, 2027.

  • Spring Break will be March 15-26, 2027 (2 weeks).

  • There are 34 weeks of lessons scheduled over the course of the school year.

  • Makeup Weeks: December 14-18, 2026 & June 14-18, 2027.

  • Students with lessons on statutory holidays will receive a discount at the beginning of September, February and May based on the number of lessons missed.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT OPTIONS

  • Annual Registration Fee: $50/family (non-refundable, covers Sept. 2026 – Aug. 2027). This fee is charged upon scheduling of lessons and does not count toward your first month of tuition.

Payment Methods:

  • Monthly (Sept–June): Paid by credit card on autopay only on the 1st of each month.

  • Per Term: Paid by e-transfer in the week prior to the start of each term.

    • Term 1: Sept. 14, 2025 – Jan. 29, 2027

    • Term 2: Feb. 1, 2027  – June 11, 2027
       

WEEKLY PRIVATE LESSONS

Paid Monthly or by Term

  • 30 min: $218/month | $1090//term

  • 45 min: $320/month | $1600/term

  • 60 min: $350/month | $1750/term

WEEKLY BUDDY LESSONS (2 STUDENTS)

Paid Monthly or by Term (Per Student)

  • 30 min: $142/month | $710/term

  • 45 min: $208/month | $1040/term

  • 60 min: $228/month | $1140/term

 

4-LESSON PACKAGES (PRIVATE LESSONS)

Ideal for adult learners who are unable to commit to weekly lessons for the year. These packages are designed for technique check-ins, brushing up skills, or learning a new tune, rather than significant long-term development. Students should understand that progress on the instrument takes time and consistency.  With these you may choose your teacher and book based on availability.

  • 30 min x 4: $255

  • 45 min x 4: $375

  • 60 min x 4: $415

Cancellation Policy for 4-packs only:

  • No makeups or rescheduling of lessons unless due to emergency or illness. Please book only what you know you can attend.

  • Optional: Request a 15-minute personalized video lesson (must notify teacher prior to missed lesson).

Expiry:

  • Purchased Sept–Nov: Expires Dec. 18, 2026

  • Purchased Jan–May: Expires June 18, 2027

 

 CHAMBER ENSEMBLE

  • $675/term Sept. 21, 2026 – Jan. 25, 2027  |  Feb. 1 - June 7, 2027

  • Weekly 60-minute group coaching sessions

  • No refunds after term begins

  • Payment plans available upon request

  • Includes all private lesson perks

 

WHAT ELSE DO LESSON FEES COVER?

Those taking regular lessons aren’t just booking lesson time — you’re gaining a full musical experience! Your tuition includes:

  • Minimum of one annual recital showcasing your progress.

  • Bi-annual progress reports to celebrate milestones and set exciting goals.

  • Personalized lesson preparation and detailed notes, which may be written by your teacher or recorded by the parent/student during the lesson, to support student growth.

  • Access to our sheet music and resource library.

  • Guidance and support for RCM examinations and local festivals like Sunshine Coast Festival of Performing Arts and Kiwanis Music Festival.

  • Additional performance opportunities throughout the year to build confidence and share music with our communities.

 

CANCELLATIONS & MAKE-UPS (FOR WEEKLY LESSONS)

  • 1 makeup credit per term (Sept–Dec  |  Jan–June)

  • Must give 48 hours' notice (or by 9am day-of in case of illness) to be eligible for credit.

  • Term 1 makeups: Dec. 14-18, 2026

    • Absences in January for per-term payors will be made up in June or as teacher and student arrange.

  • Term 2 makeups: June 14-18, 2027

  • Credits are typically scheduled on the same day/time as your regular lesson.

  • Credits expire after each makeup week and cannot be carried forward into the following term.

  • Missed makeup lessons are forfeited.

  • Regular lessons missed without proper notice are forfeited.

  • More than 2 cancellations per term = forfeited lesson.

  • Substitute teachers may be assigned if the regular instructor is unable to attend the lesson. Makeup credits are not offered if this lesson is declined.

 

ILLNESS POLICY

  • Do not attend in person if unwell (cold, flu, etc.).

  • Notify Serena (604-741-2935) and your teacher as early as possible if you/your child are unwell.

  • Online lessons will be offered if the student is well enough.

  • Students showing symptoms at arrival will be sent home with the lesson forfeited.

 

LESSON TERMINATION POLICY

  • One month’s written notice is required to terminate lessons.

  • Payment for the month following termination will be due (e.g., notice Oct. 10 → November due).

  • The student may attend lessons or not during the month’s notice period.

  • Lessons cannot be terminated for June only.

  • Makeup credits are forfeited.

 

REFUNDS

  • No refunds for missed lessons unless the teacher cannot provide makeup.

  • Per-term payor refund schedule (if withdrawing within 4 weeks):

    • After 1st week: 90%

    • After 2nd week: 80%

    • After 3rd week: 65%

    • After 4th week: 40%

    • After 5th week: 0%

 

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS & ONLINE LESSONS

  • On occasion substitute teachers may be scheduled.

  • Online lessons will be offered in case of teacher minor illness or unavailability.

  • Refusal to attend online lessons = forfeited lesson.

 

TEACHER CONTACT PROTOCOL

  • Please contact teachers only in emergencies.

  • You are welcome to discuss lesson content matters during lesson time.
